About Deep End Yorkshire & the Humber

Mining for Deep End GPs: a group forged with steel in Yorkshire and Humber

The Deep End movement has the aim of raising the profile of and of championing General Practice in the most socioeconomically deprived areas.

There are a number of factors which make working in general practice in these areas more challenging, these include: The Inverse Care Law, whereby populations with the most healthcare demand have the least access to healthcare resources. Increasing health inequality, difficulties accessing health for underserved groups, a lack of medical education in this and a lack of research.

Inspired by the Deep End Scotland , the Deep End Yorkshire and Humber was set in 2015 with the guiding objectives being:

  • Improve general practice workforce and recruitment.
  • Providing relevant educational sessions.
  • Acting as advocates for vulnerable patient groups and their health care professionals.
  • To research and record the experiences of Deep End practitioners and their patients.
